Editing Thumbnails

You can edit thumbnails and add them to stories directly in the Storyteller CMS using Studio. Much like Story creation in Studio, you can create from scratch or edit templates to get the thumb design you want.

How to create and edit thumbnails in Studio:

For Stories

1. Open Story

In the Storyteller CMS, open the story you would like to add a thumbnail for.

2. Open Studio

In the Thumbnails pane on the right-hand side of the screen, click ‘Edit in Studio’ besides the thumbnail you would like to edit.

NOTE: You can only add and edit Rectangular thumbnails (2:3) from the Rectangular pane, and Circular thumbnails (1:1) from the Circular pane.

For Clips

1. Open Clip

Open the Clip you want to edit in the Studio.

2. Open Studio

Scroll down to the asset section of the Clip details page and hover over the thumbnail field, press the studio button.

NOTE: Clip thumbnails are only available in the 2:3 style.

Studio

Once you are in Studio, you can create a thumbnail by adding elements to the page such as images from the Media Library, text, shapes and stickers (see the full Studio user guide here).

Thumbnail Templates
Are pre-made templates made up of editable Studio elements, they make it easy to quickly produce high quality and on brand thumbnails at scale for your new stories.

If you do not currently have any template designs get in touch and we would be happy to provide some for you.

Once you have your templates set up and ready to use:

  1. Head to the Templates tab and select the template type you want to use

  2. Adjust and edit with new copy and images to best fit your story

  3. Once you have finished adding your templates, select Save and you will be returned to the Story Editor where you can review the thumbnail.
